Grunge music definitely enjoyed chart topping mainstream success during the 90's but it's popularity went downhill on the same era as well. Lots of arguments bout it's decline but maybe it had something to do with other grunge bands refusing to go mainstream (they didn't want their music to be labeled as Pop), and of course major tragedies like the death of Kurt Cobain and Layne Staley.

But hey! There's still people like you who still follow it and express their fandom over the interwebs. Even pioneering bands like Pearl Jam continues to do well with music sales and sell out concerts. So it may be dead on radio friendly airwaves but it's legacy still lives on I guess.

Soundgarden, Alice ni Chains and Pearl Jam(early days) will never die..

but for me Soundgarden is the best, I wonder why they are labelled as "Grunge" when they are used to be a heavy metal band.
Kim Thayil can really shred his guitar, and Chris Cornell's voice reminds me of Robert Plant(led zep) and Ian Gillian of Deep Purple.

Soundgarden reminds me of the 70's hard rock bands
