Though I'm a fan of Asus and personally thinks their boards are much more reliable.. chipsetwise... mas in favor ko sa nVidia nForce for an AMD *gaming* solution.

AFAIK, the nVidia nForce 3 has a fix AGP/PCI clock for overclocking, which the VIA counterpart doesn't (correct me if I'm wrong).

I am just a casual gamer. Is the difference really that great between the two chipsets?

Correct. chipsets that are not fixed PCI/AGP clock are extremely unstable in
slight overlcloking, not only AGP and PCI that is fixed also the IDE or SATA clock speed is not fixed, and is variable depending on the FSB.

When Ocing the FSB in VIA chipsets - the IDE, SATA, AGP, and PCI clock is dependent with the FSB speed, even the built-in soundcard,
will also be overclocked. This will result a very unstable system overclocking, even slightly.
This will yield Some HD bad sectors, soundcard problems, display problems.

unlike NForce 2 or above chipsets, the FSB Ocing
will not affect the AGP, PCI, and IDE and other components because it has
a fixed clock rate independent of the FSB.
